A globe valve, different from a ball valve, is a type of valve used for regulating flow in a pipeline, consisting of a movable plug or disc element and a stationary ring seat in a generally spherical body.
Globe valves are named for their spherical body shape with the two halves of the body being separated by an internal baffle. This has an opening that forms a seat onto which a movable plug can be screwed in to close (or shut) the valve. The plug is also called a disc or disk. In globe valves, the plug is connected to a stem which is operated by screw action using a handwheel in manual valves. Typically, automated globe valves use smooth stems rather than threaded and are opened and closed by an actuator assembly.
The Globe valve is a low profile yet durable design that utilizes a frangible glass ampoule as the thermo- sensitive element. While the sprinkler provides an aesthetically pleasing appearance, it can be installed wherever standard spray sprinklers are specified. This sprinkler series is available in various styles, orifices, temperature ratings, and finishes to meet varying design requirements.

Plug (Disk)
The plug or the disk is among the essential globe valve parts. It moves perpendicular to the seat and its movement can block or free the flow since it works as a moveable physical barrier. When the valve is closed, the plug sits against the seat to block the flow and when it sits above the sits and enables the flow of the material.
Different disk arrangements have been designed for globe valves such as composite type, ball type, and needle type. The composite disk can provide better shut off, while the ball type is used for low-temperature and low-pressure systems. The needle disk has the advantage of providing a better throttling compared to the other two. Read more
